I fell in love with cameras as a child from the moment I used my parent’s video camera. I was born in Salt Lake City, and with the mountains in my backyard, I had endless possibilities of what I could make videos of. I fell in love with the wilderness, and it drove me to stay in Utah and continue my education at the University Of Utah. During my first two years there, I had the opportunity to use an old 16mm film camera, and at that point I knew I wanted to pursue a degree in Film Production in order to become a Cinematographer. I found a strong, supportive group of people in the department and with them I co-founded the Film Production Club (FPC) at the University of Utah. I was elected as the club’s first President and helped the club prosper even after graduating with my film degree. I quickly learned that film was not only about creating, but also the people you meet and the relationships you form. Meeting people from all around the world and hearing their stories became my favorite part of filmmaking. I want to use film as a way to make friends, tell people’s stories, and produce something that all those involved in can feel proud of.
